Gear up for a full day of fun and exploration in charming Haines, Alaska. The day will begin with a scenic boat ride up the Lynn Canal to Haines aboard an Allen Marine Catamaran. Upon arrival you will be treated to a narrated driving tour through historic Fort Seward, the first U.S. military base in Alaska. Next, we’ll drive south of town along the Chilkat Peninsula to the Chilkoot River valley, home to some of the best bear viewing in Alaska. After a visit to beautiful Chilkoot Lake, we’ll take in some views in the quaint area of Lutak and find a scenic spot for lunch.
After lunch, we’ll head to the American Bald Eagle Foundation’s Raptor Center to watch a live flight presentation and visit their natural history museum. Our final stop will take us on a private tour through the Sheldon museum, home to more than 4,000 artifacts. The bus tour will conclude downtown at the Sheldon Museum leaving you with 1-2 hours of free time to enjoy Haines on your own before meeting back at the harbor at 5:30pm for the ride back to Juneau. Dinner will be served on the boat trip back.
